About The 49th Floor

The 49th Floor represents a building with fifty floors.  And you have to get to the top.  The top of the building represents what is meaningful to you.  But, whatever that is, its urgent, its crucial.  Let's pretend that the top of the building is a rooftop.  There is an extravagant party waiting for you - all your favorite people, the best food, the best drinks, the best music, a beautiful view, wonderful music, a pool filled with diamond water, a water wall of crystals.  Everyone is waiting for you.  You enter the building and head for the elevator only to realize there is no elevator, only stairs.  And you don't know how many floors there are.  But, its ok, you know what's waiting for you at the top and with a spring in your step you begin to climb the stairs.  You climb 10 flights.  Out of breath and winded, you stop for a moment and continue.   You climb and climb.  You reach the 15th floor.  No not the one.  You reach the 20th floor. Then the 25th floor.  By now, you are sweating, body hurting, discouraged.  You are starting to doubt if there's anything even up there.  Maybe its all a joke.  Yet, you continue to climb.  You pass the 35th floor, the 40th floor, the 45th floor.  By now, you are angry, tired, you feel like a fool, confused.  "Why is this so hard," you ask yourself as you reach the 49th floor.  It's here you decide.........

What will you decide?  At the 49th floor and without knowing its only one more floor, will you  decide all the stairs you have climbed isn't worth how many more you have to go?  Will you decide to give up and feeling like a fool say to yourself, "FORGET THIS SHIT" and head back down the stairs?

Or, will you continue to climb, without knowing its only one more floor, that after all this effort and sweat and hardship and the struggle it took to CLIMB 49 FLIGHTS OF STAIRS you must continue on because, after all you've come this far?

This is the meaning of the 49th floor.

I've often wondered about why some people give up after a few flights or decide to not even take the stairs at all.  Or even sadder I guess for lack of a better word, climb and climb and struggle and climb only to decide to give up and head back down, bitterly cursing the stupid building with no elevator, and the hard cold stairs and themselves for being so foolish to believe there was anything at the top in the first place.  And why some people, despite the uncertainty of what path is the right path to take, they take the stairs no matter how many or how long or how hard it will be. They will just keep climbing until they achieve the dream they know is waiting at the top.  I think the difference between living the life we came to live in abundance and the life that falls short of blessings and happiness and always in a state of lacking depends on our willingness to take another step.  It is this moment, standing on the landing of the 49th floor, will you decide to take the extra step because after all you've come this far, you've lived this long, its just one more floor.

The 49th Floor.  Knowledge.  Vision.  Enlightenment.  Take the extra step.
